Breaking News Alert
According to businessinsurance.com, Anthem Inc. said it would buy Cigna Corp. in a deal valued at $54.2 billion, creating the largest U.S. health insurer by membership. Anthem has said the acquisition will help it reduce costs and allow it to negotiate lower prices with doctors and hospitals.

Once all regulatory reviews are finalized, and the transaction is approved, the combination of the two entities will bring together complementary strengths of two great companies. Most importantly, the merger will be good for customers and producer partners, enabling the newly merged entity to offer a wider choice of better solutions at a lower price. Also, they will be expanded into more service areas, all while enhancing quality of care.
The combined company will continue to use the Cigna brand across key markets, products and services.
