Don't forget: the deadline to enroll your on-exchange New York individual clients for January 1 coverage is this Friday, December 15th. The deadline to enroll off-exchange New York individual clients for January 1 coverage with Oscar is Sunday, December 31.
In case you need a refresher, you can easily enroll your individual off-exchange clients with Oscar through your customized link here: hioscar.com/get-quote/NPN. Once your client enrolls, we’ll give you credit!

Healthfirst will be extending their small group new business deadline for January business.They will accept employer applications via your GA enrollment portal through Wednesday 1/3/18 for business with an effective date of 1/1/18. NOTE if business is submitted after their standard new business deadline of the 23rd of the month, that coverage may not be approved until after the effective date. If coverage is approved, Healthfirst may not be able to produce a group number, member ID numbers, or member ID cards until effectuation is complete, which could be after the effective date of the policy.

January renewal applications submitted after this date will require a manual process to re-open the window and may subject the entire group to delays of up to 2-3 business days from receipt. Keep this in mind and work closely with your FNA Representatives.

UnitedHealthcare Federal Open Enrollment Change - Important. We have been notified by UnitedHealthcare about this most recent update regarding Federal Open Enrollment.  UHC was recently recieved updated guidance from the NY DFS regarding the changes to the Federal Open Enrollment Period.    The new guidance is as follows:
  • Participation cannot be applied to new business submissions that apply between 11/15-12/15 for the following effective dates: 11/15, 12/1, 12/15 & 1/1. Any effective date after 1/1 will have participation applied.
  • It was previously advised that no participation would be applied to later effective dates of 1/15, 2/1, 2/15, 3/1 & 3/15 if the group was submitted between 11/15 and 12/15. Those effective dates will now have participation applied to them.

Please call your FNA Representative should you have any questions regarding this important update.

The focus is Major Provider Practices  based on where members have historically visited and have indicated as most valuable when selecting a provider network. For a more expansive list, members and prospective clients should utilize the Find-a-Doctor feature on empireblue.com to identify whether their physicians are  participating or not.  Although Empire covers 96% of physicians nationwide through our PPO BlueCard program, it is still important to check!

Reminder from Emblem - This is another reminder on the process for moving 12/1 groups to 1/1/2018. Please use the attestation letter needed to move groups into the 2018 plans prior to renewal. This letter must be executed and uploaded during the initial enrollment process via the broker portal. The deadline for submission for new 12/1 small groups is 11/27.  For 12/1 existing groups, if they want to move to the new 2018 plans, this letter must be submitted to Broker Services no later than 11/27 to ensure proper enrollment and issuance of new ID cards.

Empire BCBS Anthem Co 8 2016

Empire RX Update - Empire’s parent company Anthem, Inc. announced that it is launching IngenioRx, a new pharmacy benefits manager (PBM). IngenioRx will begin offering a full suite of PBM solutions starting in 2020. In addition to the news about IngenioRx, they have also announced that we’re partnering with CVS Health after our current PBM contract expires at the end of 2019. This combination will create a truly  integrated approach to managing health and driving better outcomes.
