UPDATE: In a controversial legislative move, New York State has enacted very significant new expansions to leave policies that affect virtually all New York employers by instituting new worker protections.
Among other provisions, the rules expand the number of employers subject to leave obligations, impose shorter timeframes for workers activating leave, and include new provisions requiring pay during leave. The law is not slated to become effective until January 2018.
