The December 20th deadline is approaching for Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (MA PFML). Employers who submit for a private plan exemption by this date and receive state approval will not be required to make MA state contributions. Employers who chose an Arch MA PFML private plan (effective January 2021) will not be required to make premium payments until the end of Q1 2021 (a down payment of $25/ee is required to bind coverage which is applied to Q1 2021).

Arch requires a completed application (see below) to formally bind a quoted employer. Arch will release a declaration letter that is then used for private plan exemption submission. Please note, If you have any outstanding quotes with Arch, the importance of the December 20th deadline is very important. If an employer does miss this deadline, they are still able to submit for private plan exemption and also make at least the first quarter of contributions (10/1/19 – 12/31/19) to the MA state plan.
