The products are sold exclusively through General Agents and their brokers. “We’re excited to partner with General Agents and brokers to make Delta Dental benefits available to this very important group of employers,” says Carin Hep, DDNJ Small Market Director.

While the Ultimate Health policy requires that members file a claim within 90 days after the covered expense has been incurred, it also recognizes this isn’t always possible. As a courtesy to members, claims are accepted up until 90 days after the Ultimate Health plan year ends.
 
Example:
Date of service for claim: 7/1/16
Ultimate Health plan year: 1/1/2016 to 12/31/2016                                                                                        
Last day to file claims: 3/31/2017
 
Please encourage members to gather claims incurred in the 2016 plan year and file them now. If their Ultimate Health plan year started on 1/1, their claims will not be accepted unless they are filed by 3/31/2017.

Unum has released a new White Paper for the broker and employer audience, regarding the need for supplemental disability insurance coverage in the U.S.  Please feel free to share this document with Plan Administrators, in your upcoming stewardship meetings. Two interesting statistics referenced in the Unum White Paper highlight how Americans are at risk in the event of a disability:
•    40% of Americans earning $100,000+ annually say they live paycheck to paycheck 1
•    25% of U.S. workers aged 20-50 are expected to become disabled before age 67 2

While long term disability (LTD) is an excellent foundation for income protection, benefit maximums, uncovered compensation, and taxable LTD benefits may leave higher income earners underinsured. For instance, 78% of employers say that their long term disability (LTD) plans don’t include coverage for bonuses or commissions.3

Unum’s Supplemental IDI coverage layered on group LTD can better protect the lifestyle that these employees have grown accustomed to, and greatly improves their chance of maintaining their financial goals.  
The shift in distribution channels to the employee benefit broker, Unum’s IDI guarantee issue program, advances in IDI enrollment technology and administration, and Employers’ focus on Financial Wellness initiatives have helped IDI become a mainstream employee benefit.  The opportunity is to tremendous!

In order to provide a proposal we simply need a copy of the existing LTD program with an updated census.  Please remember, Unum’s Supplemental IDI solution can be offered on a voluntary or employer paid basis, and with any carrier’s underlying Group LTD.

OBM January Renewal Update -  The 1/1/17 OBM renewals were sent out.  These renewals were calculated incorrectly causing a rather large, in many cases, increase.   The issue is being corrected and updated renewals are going to be sent out next week. An official communiation will come directly from OBM. Please call FNA if you have any questions.

 

UHC Oxford 2015

New Benefit Added to Oxford Benefit Management Plans  Beginning with January 1, 2017 Renewals

UHC is pleased to announce that, upon renewal in 2017, that they will automatically include a $25,000 employee basic life insurance benefit to all Oxford Benefit Management (OBM)1 plan designs. This will apply to all new and renewing groups in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, beginning with January 1, 2017 effective dates. Click below for full details.

1.    Ultimate Health will cover eligible expenses from out of network providers.  Yes, even if there is no out of network coverage, Ultimate Health will reimburse eligible out of network expenses.
2.    This is the same Ultimate Health policy we are currently issuing.  Only the underwriting guidelines have changed.
3.    Coverage does not have to coincide with the primary medical plan renewal date.
